Forest officials remember Manikandan on World Wildlife Day

Mysuru: Forest officials of Mysuru wildlife circle donated blood to commemorate their colleague S Manikandan who met a tragic death on World Wildlife Day, two years ago.

Manikandan, a 2001-batch IFS officer was attacked by a wild tusker when he had gone to inspect forest fire near Kabini backwaters. Ironically, Manikandan who had strived to resolve man-animal conflict was killed on the World Wildlife Day.

Forest officials paid rich tributes to their colleague and voluntarily donated blood as a mark of respect to one of the finest officers.
Earlier, Conservator of Forests, Mysuru Wildlife Circle T Hiralal inaugurated the World Wildlife Day at Aranya Bhavan on Tuesday.
This year, the theme is ‘Sustaining all life on earth’ encompasses all wild animal and plant species as a component of biodiversity as well as the livelihoods of people, especially those who live closest to the nature. “It is essential for us to conserve wildlife to lead a sustainable life,” observed CF Hiralal.
