Forest Martyr’s Day! Late IFS officer S Manikandan remembered

Mysuru: Forest Martyrs Day was observed at Aranya Bhavan, Ashokapuram in the city on Friday.

Police Commissioner Dr Chandragupta paid floral tributes to the Memorial of forest martyr’s on the premises of the Bhavan.

Chandragupta opined that “the conservation of ecology and widlife is a highly responsible job. Without forest, one cannot imagine life as every tree, birds, insects and wild animals are a part of it. We need to inculcate responsibility among all the people”.

Police Commissioner Dr Chandragupta lays wreath on Forest Martyr’s Memorial at Aranya Bhavan in Mysuru on Friday.

“I remember my best friend Manikandan (IFS officer who was killed in a tusker attack during his tenure as Conservator of Forests and director of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve in March 2018) and we miss him”, Dr Chandragupta said after paying floral tributes to the portrait of Manikandan.

DCF (Mysuru) K C Prashanth Kumar explained the importance of the forest Martyrs Day and read out the list of forest martyrs. 

Forest officials Jagathram, T Hiralal, M C Alexander, Ajit Kulkarni, Deepa Jain and forest watchers and guards were present.
