Forensic Fair- 2023! Explore crime scene, investigation methods at JSS Medical College

Mysuru: Two-day Forensic Fair- 2023 began at JSS Medical College, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Shivarathreeshwara Nagar, Mysuru- Bengaluru road in the city on Thursday. 

With the increasing crime rate in the society flagging concern about the saftey of life, the Forensic Fair provides an insight into What is crime? How to identify the crime scene? What are the procedures followed to collect finger prints? How to ascertain the age of the unindinetified body and ehnic group? and all other key aspects based on science and its application in forensic wing, to the visitors to the fair.

The students of Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Organising Committee, JSS AHER explain about the exhibits with live demonstrations to the visitors.

Nine stalls are put up including Mysuru City Police, who have dispalyed different types of firearms like Pistol, Carbine, Revolver, AK 47, INSAS, 7.62 mm SLR, Bolt Action Rifle, Musket 0.410, Tear Gas Gun.

Similalry two stalls of Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology presents a live demonstration on latent fingerprint testing, “TRAP CASE “ demonstration and crime scene Management and Overview about Do’s and Don’ts to public about crime and crime scenes.

Scientific Officers of Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) explain about Assalut case, Sexual assualt case, Documentary frauds, gold frauds and signature identification methods.

Department of Forensic Odontology, JSS Dental College gives an overview about the role of Dental Evidence in crime investigation. They use human scull and teeth to explain the methods.

With live demonstations, video streaming and pamphlets awareness is created among visitors in many ways.

Department of Clinical Pharmacy gives information about poison and its ill effects and the first aid and helpline center set up on the campus.

Dr H V Chandrakanth, a faculty of Forensic Medicine Department explained the importance of crime investigation and the role of forensic science. Here Forensic is also a highly demanding profession and students can find their dream career in forensic science, added Chandrakanth.

Police Commissioner Ramesh Banoth inaugurated Forensic Fair and went through the exhibits at the stalls.

Registrar, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Dr B Manjunath, Principal of JSS Medical College, Dr H Basavanagowdappa and Administrative Officer S R Satishchandra were the guests of honour.

Students of JSS Educational Institutions from Mysuru and surrounding taluks visited the Forensic Fair.
