Footpath encroachment! City police book 18 cases, collect Rs 5,400 spot fine, issue notice to 61 people

Mysuru: The city police who are cracking down on footpath encroachments on Sunday booked four cases under Karnataka Police Act, collected Rs 5,400 spot fine in 14 cases under Indian Motorvehicle Act and issued notice to 61 people.

According to a press release from police commissioner’s office, it is stated that ” the drive is being conducted as the pedestrians are finding it difficult due to the traders keeping articles encroaching footpath space.”

On Sunday, encroachment clearance drive was conducted at Following roads- Vinobha road and JPM road in Devaraja traffic police limits, Udayaravi road in K R Traffic police limits, new Sayyaji Rao Road in N R traffic police limits, Mahadevapura and Vinaya Marga in Siddarthanagar Traffic police limits and Hootagalli junction and Temple road in V V Puram traffic police station limits.

ACP (traffic) and police inspectors executed the drive.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of DCP (Crime and Traffic) Geetha Prasanna.

Police Commissioner Dr Chandragupta has warned of continuing with the drive against footpath encroachers and initiate stern action.
