Food poisoning: 173 students of nursing college admitted to hospital

Mangaluru: As many as 173 students of a nursing college here have been admitted to hospital owing to alleged food poisoning, on Monday.
Students of City College of Nursing were staying at the hostel in Shaktinagar. After the afternoon meals, they developed stomachache, vomiting and diarrhea.
They were rushed to a couple of hospitals in the city, said District Health and Family Welfare Officer (in-charge) Dr Rajesh. The food samples from the hostel have been sent to the CFTRI in Mysuru. Water samples of the hostel too have been sent for testing. “We are awaiting the lab reports,” he added.
Meanwhile, some of the students have returned to the hostel after treatment, while a couple of them are still being treated at the hospital.
