Mysuru: Amid growing inflation rate that is burning the pockets of people, the rates of food at restaurants will be dearer across the State including Mysuru.

According to C Narayan Gowda President of Hotel Owners Association, Mysuru “It has been decided to hike the rates on food by five per cent in Mysuru. It will be effective from April 10”.

It was decided in the emergency executive committee meeting in the evening, said Gowda.

This stems from the recent rise in the prices of essentials, edible oil, LPG cylinder, packing items among others. The salary of labourers has also gone up by 25 per cent. The per litre price of Nandini ghee has increased by Rs 30 just a fortnight ago, followed by coffee and tea powders by 30 per cent, sambar items by 33 per cent, building rent, hike in trade licence fee by 20 per cent, explains Gowda.

However, when compared to recent unsavoury developments especially Covid-19 that dealt a heavy blow to hotel industry and also tourism, the pressure was on to hike the rates by 10 per cent, said Gowda.
