Finally, zoo subway works to start soon

Mysuru: The much awaited works on building a subway to Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysuru Zoo) in the city will start soon.

The parking lot opposite Mysuru zoo.

Zoo Executive Director Ajith Kulkarni told Mysoorunews.com “The work estimated to to cost Rs 1.9 crore will be launched after January 10. A formal puja as a part of ground breaking ceremony has been arranged at the zoo premises today”.

“The Shalivahana road in front of zoo witnesses heavy traffic throughout the day making it difficult for the visitors and tourists to cross the road. Hence the subway project is planned to ease the problems being faced by tourists”, officer said.

The subway will connect the main entrance of zoo from parking lot and vice- versa.

The road witnesses heavy traffic as it also connects Ittigegud and other localities with Lalit Mahal road, Mysuru- T Narsipur road. With the subway, the traffic related grievances will be addressed to a larger extent.

In view of the works, the city police have issued a notification diverting the movement of vehicles towards alternative roads in the vicinity.
