Finally, foundation laid for actor Vishnuvardhan memorial in Mysuru

Mysuru: Finally the memorial for actor Vishnuvardhan will be a reality. Foundation was laid for the memorial at Halalu village opposite Udbur gate on Mysuru- H D Kote road on Tuesday.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa inaugurated the foundation laying ceremony online from Bengaluru.

Actress and wife of Vishnuvardhan, Bharati, daughter Keerti Vardhan and son-in-law Aniruddh took part in the rituals.

The memorial will come up at the estimated cost of Rs 11 crore. Of the total 5.5 acres of land acquired for the purpose, the memorial will come up on two acres and six feet long bust of the actor will be installed as a major attraction.

A museum will also be built for the benefit of fans and followers of the late actor who can peek into the life and time of the actor. A branch of Film and Television Institute of India will also be opened here to train the budding artistes and technicians.

Cooperation and district minister S T Somashekar said “it is happy to note that the long pending demand is finally becoming a reality. The late actor was sharing a strong bond with Mysuru where he grew up and also had his early education”.

MLAs S A Ramdas and G T Devegowda, MUDA Chairman H V Rajiv and others were present.
