Film director K V Anand dies at 54 in Chennai
1 min readChennai: Ace filmmaker and cinematographer K V Anand died of cardiac arrest on Friday. He was 54.
Anand who was one of the leading directors of Tamil cinema has to his credit commercial hits like- Ayan, Ko, Maatraan, Anegan, Kavan and Kaappaa. His debut film as a director was Kana Kandaen in 2005.
Anand had of late collaborated with top actors like Suriya, Dhanush and Vijay Setupathi.
Anand who started as a film photographer, made a start as an assistant cinematographer with renowned cameraman P C Sriram. He worked as an assistant cameraman for films like Thevar Magan, Thiruda Thiruda etc.,
As an independent cinematographer, he won the national award for his first film- Thenmavin Kombath, a Malayalam film starring Mohanlal and Shobhana in 1994.
It was Anand who had wielded the megaphone for Shankar’s hit films like-Sivaji and Mudhalvan.
It’s indeed a devastating month for Tamil cinema mainly, that recently lost ace comedian Vivek aged 59.
