Mysuru: V Kalyana Rama Chairman and Managing Director of Container Corporation of India, New Delhi, has assured to order for a feasibility survey for setting up Inland container depot (ICD) at Mandya and Bidadi.

According to Mysuru- Kodagu MP Prathap Simha who called on Kalyana Rama in New Delhi on Tuesday, “the ICD at Mandya and Bidadi will be helpful for sugar cane (molasses) and rice industry. The people of Mandya and Ramanagar districts were kind enough to facilitate acquisition of their land for Mysuru- Bengaluru 10 lane expressway works. Hence, we are duty bound to serve them”.

Simha who has submitted a detailed letter corroborating his demand for inland container depot has explained that “ICD at expressway near Mandya will help de-stress and de-congest the ports where the spaces are limited and temporarily storing containers here before they are moved to ports addresses this issue. Additionally servicing and repairing facilities of containers and other moving equipment can be undertaken here. The feasibility of ICD at Mandya with Mandya Railway Station as take off point should be duly examined”.
