‘FDP at ATMECE: Technological advancement hinges on research in basic science’

Mysuru: A five- day Faculty Development Program (FDP) “Essential of Sciences for Engineering and Research-2024” was organised at ATME College of Engineering (ATMECE) in the city.
The Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities, ATMECE had organised the FDP for the faculties and research scholars.
The inauguration of the workshop was conducted at the seminar hall of Civil engineering Department, ATMECE.

Dr S P Basavaraj, Retired Professor of Bangalore Institute of Technology, ( BIT) Bangalore was the Chief Guest and keynote speaker of the programme.
Dr Basavaraj said “The development of technology is based on the researches in basic sciences and most of the researches in many technical fields are focused on the foundation of the basic sciences. So in the absence of basic science, the development and research of innovative technologies is not possible. He also gave a broad perspective about the fast changing technological world, even inside research field.”
In his presidential address, Dr A K Murthy Principal, ATMECE stressed on the fact that organising such events would be quite fruitful in exchanging ideas and views with fast changing science and technological development.”
He also appreciated the efforts of the organisers.
Dr Basavaraj L Director IQAC, ATMECE, Deans Dr M S Govinde Gowda, Dr S R Bhagyashree, Dr Srinivasa K and Dr Sachidananda Murthy, Administrative Officer ATMECE and Prof Sudhakar HOD Mathematics, were also present on the occasion.
Dr Mahesh Lohith K S, Program Convener and HOD Physics delivered welcome address. Dr Avinash K, HOD Dept. of Chemistry and Convener of the program briefed about the FDP.
Dr Prabhu R, Dr Chidananda, Dr Ambu Balagan, Dr Dwaraka Prasad, Dr Bhaskar, Dr Shivprakash and Dr Avinash K, were the resource persons and shared their ideologies in the FDP.
More than 55 participants with research scholars benefited from the FDP.
