Farmers protest on Mysuru- Bengaluru, Nanjangud highways! Traffic goes out of gear

Mysuru/ Mandya: As the farmers protest across the nation completed one year, farmers across the country are staging protests by closing National highways as part of highway bandh call on Friday.

The heat of protest is severely felt on Mysuru- Bengaluru highway and Mysuru- Nanjangud highway throwing vehicular traffic out of gear.

Several farmers organisations who have gathered under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha, State Sugarcane Growers Association, Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha and Hasiru Sene are staging the protests simultaneously, but on different highways.

The farmers led by Sugarcane Growers Association President Kurbur Shanthakumar are holding stir on Mysuru-Nanjangud highway near the outer-ring road junction near Bandipalya APMC yard, along with cattles. 

Shantakumar said “we welcome the repeal of farm laws, but also demand the implementation of guarantee minimum support price (MSP).”

Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha supported by several other outfits have assembled near Kirangoor junction at Srirangapatna on Mysuru- Bengaluru highway.

They are led by Raita Sangha President Badagalapura Nagendra, comrade Nagaraj and hundreds of farmers who have sat in the middle of the road.

The farmers who are preparing the lunch for protesters have also set up a makeshift kitchen at Baburayana Koppal in Srirangapatna.

As a precaution, the police who had drawn alternate routes for smooth flow of traffic mainly on Mysuru-  Bengaluru highway are diverting the vehicles towards Malavalli and Bannur roads.
