Mysuru: Farmers under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha ( KRRS) who are staging protest in front of Bettadapura police station in Periyapatna since Wednesday have continued to stage protest for the third day on Friday.
The farmers are staging a sit- in, in protest against the arrest of Raitha Sangha vice- president H C Lokesh Raje Urs.
On Friday, hundreds of farmers formed a human chain condemning the arrest, as Urs is accused of abusing a woman police constable at the station.
Raitha Sangha State president Badagalapura Nagendra, leaders Sunita Puttannaiah, socialist Pa Maalesh, Ashwath Narayanraje Urs, Ravikiran Poonacha from Dakshina Kannada, P Marankaiah, Hosur Kumar, Hosakote Basavaraj, Sargur Nataraj, Netravati, Ravikumar and other leaders took part in the protest.
Urs was arrested on Wednesday night, in the middle of the road, when he was on his way to his village Hiremalali in Hunsur taluk. He is under judicial custody since then.
