Farmers led by MLA Darshan Puttannaiah protest against release of Cauvery water to TN

Mandya: Protesting against the government’s decision to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, farmers, led by Melukote MLA Darshan Puttannaiah staged a protest in front of Krishna Raja Sagara reservoir, here on Thursday.
About hundreds of farmers had gathered at the dam’s entrance and raised slogans against the State government.
They were of the opinion that the government’s move to release water to Tamil Nadu even before the court order was an injustice to Karnataka farmers. They demanded the government to convey the status of water level at the reservoir and urged to protect the interests of Karnataka farmers.
The water level at KRS has not yet touched its maximum level this year as rains have receded in its catchment areas. As on Thursday, water level at KRS stood at 110.04 ft with an inflow of 3067 cusecs and outflow of 12,718 cusecs.
