Farmer’s daughter among Commerce toppers in State

2 min read

Mysuru: A farmer’s daughter has brought laurels to Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts by emerging as a third State topper in Commerce in the II PUC results that was announced on Friday.

Nikhitha P daughter of Paramesh N and Kathyayini S couple, residents of sixth cross, Janatha Nagar in the city is that girl.

She has scored 595 out of 600 and shares the honour with 12 other students in the State.

The family hails from Mudigunda village, Kollegal taluk in Chamarajanagar, which moved to Mysuru, four years ago just for the sake of the girl children’s education. Paramesh has studied till eighth grade and his wife till seventh grade, but that didn’t stop them from encouraging their wards studies.

Nikhitha has two elder sisters Nischitha doing her first year MSc in Chemistry at JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty road in the city and Nirmitha studying BCA at JSS Women’s College, Saraswatipuram in the city.

It’s Paramesh’s strong will that his daughters must not endure like him in the future, that propelled their academic excellence.

Paramesh owns six acres of irrigated land and an ancestral house in Mudigunda. While he stays most of the time with his family in Mysuru, visits his agricultural field as and when the time summons.

Nikhitha told Mysoorunews.com “I had anticipated the results, but missed five marks for a centum in English. I was studying for six to eight hours at home. I didn’t take any tutions, as the college was from 8.30 am to 2 pm. If we are studious at class and study at home calmly, it is more than enough to score better marks.”

Nikhitha studied class one to five at Sri Shiva Vidyakendra, Mudigunda, six to eight at Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kollegal and 9 to 10 at Taralabalu School, Sahukar Channaiah road, Mysuru.

Even in SSLC exams too, Nikhitha’s score was 615/ 625 marks.

Nikhitha preferred to study Commerce as she wanted to try something different from her sisters in Science stream. It has paid rich dividends with her top score in II PU. She wants to study BCom and pursue Chartered Accountancy (CA).

She also attributed her performance to the guidance of her Principal Ambika and Administrative Officer of BGS Girls PU College Narase Gowda.

Paramesh who was elated of his daughter’s academic excellence said “Nobody in our family and also in our native Mudigunda, has reached this pinnacle of success in academics.”
