Farmers advised total farming method to cut down losses

Mysuru: If the farmers adopt total farming method or multi-cropping method in agriculture by laying emphasis on growing fruits and vegetables, there are possibilities of avoiding losses.

Raita Mitra Farmers Producers Company in association with Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru had organised a workshop for vegetable growing farmers.

Presiding over the workshop, Kurbur Shanthakumar said “farmers should slowly shift to organic farming by avoiding the usage of insecticide and chemical fertilisers. It will also ensure better health for the consumers. The fertility of the land will also be ensured, along with good health for both the family and society by growing chemically free vegetables”.

Researcher Narayan Swamy said “the research organisations will have an agreement with Farmers Producers Company to facilitate farmers grow crops suitable to the particular area by providing both research support and technology for the value addition of seeds”.

IIHR researcher Venkatesh Kumar assured to provide free saplings to farmers who have enrolled with Farmers Producers Company, in the coming days.

IIHR also distributed vegetable special, neem soap to hundreds of farmers at the workshop.

Attahalli Devaraj welcomed the gathering and K S Nagaraj Murthy proposed vote of thanks.
