Extend Rs one lakh relief announced to BPL families to all Covid victims, demands Kurbur Shanthakumar

Mysuru: State Sugarcane Growers Association Karnataka distributed bread, biscuits and fruits to 280 inmates of Covid Care Centre at Mandakalli on Wednesday.

Association President Kurbur Shanthakumar distributed the food items and instilled a sense of confidence among the inmates at the centre.

Shanthakumar said ” Once the inmates are released from the centre, they should not take Covid vaccine for three months, as advised by the doctors.”

Appealing to the Covid survivors to be cautious about relapse in condition, Shanthakumar suggested that the district administration should scientifically prepare to face the third wave of the pandemic.

He also urged the government to extend financial relief of Rs one lakh announced to those BPL families which have lost an earning member to Covid, to all those who have died of the virus. There are chances of rural people deprived of the benefit of compensation if the government goes ahead with its announcement restricted to BPL card holders, added Shantakumar.

Association taluk president Ganagarahundi Venkatesh, Vice-president Satagalli Basavaraj, Mysuru city president Devendra Kumar, Mandya district convener Ramegowda, incharge of Covid Care Centre Nandeesh and Health Inspector Vijaykumar were present.
