2 min read

Mysuru: Two days after prominent dalit leader and incumbent Chamarajanagar BJP MP V Sreenivas Prasad found fault in the demands of Opposition Leader in Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah, Prasad’s political bete noire and former Chamarajanagar MP R Dhruvanarayan shot back at the former (Prasad).

Dhruvanarayan a Congress leader who referred to the remarks made by Prasad against Siddaramaiah said ” It is not acceptable on the part of Prasad. According to Prasad, it’s not the right time to seek details on expenditures made by the BJP government in the state to tackle Coronavirus. However, it’s imperative to seek the accounts as the government is turning the situation into its own advantage”.

Alleging that the state government has reached its nadir, Dhruvanarayan said “Apart from misusing the Covid crises, the government is also out to destroy the interest of agrarian community. It is evident with the recent amendments made to Karnataka Land Reforms (Amendment) Ordinance 2020”.

The state became progressive and set an example for others, when the then Chief Minister D Devaraja Urs introduced Land Reforms with the able support of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, said Dhruvanarayan.

Shivamogga was the first to launch Kagodu Movement for land reforms while Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa who represents Shivamogga is adamant on bringing in an amendment to the Land Reforms.
The government has ignored the opposition party, farmer organisations and dalit groups.
It is again bringing back feudalism in our system, as the amendment will make way for the rise of landlords who may grab lands, he added.
Dhruvanarayan said “Congress party will take up the issue and will strongly fight both in and outside the house. A first phase of meeting held on Tuesday, where it was  decided to organise aggressive fight”.
