Mysuru: Former chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Sunday gave a clarion call to BJP workers to ensure victory of R Raghu Kautilya the candidate for the election to Legislative Council from Mysuru- Chamarajanagar local bodies constituency.

Addressing the gathering at Rajendra Kalamandira in the city, Yediyurappa who heaped praises on Raghu said “Raghu who worked as a Covid warrior, lost his wife. But he remained focused without deviating from public service.”

On the day of election on December 10,  give first preferential vote to Raghu. Don’t neglect voting, as each vote is also precious and complete voting before 9 AM, added Yediyurappa.

Reitering the demand, Yediyurappa said “We need more than 15 MLC seats and I am also confident about achieving the victory. Wherever JDS is not contesting, they can support BJP, but it doesn’t mean alliance with the regional party,” clarified Yediyurappa.

“I resigned as CM and went to Governor to submit resignation letter. Many were under the impression that I will quit politics. But, I resigned to organise the party. I will go to each districts and interact with our leaders to win not less than 140 seats in the next Assembly elections,” said Yediyurappa.

“I am not sitting quiet, and you also don’t sit idle. Simply work hard like our PM Narendra Modi. His ambitions are more and we must stand with him,” said Yediyurappa while giving a call to the party workers.

Whoever speaks against Modi should realise his power in this MLC election and your votes can do that, said Yediyurappa in his call to party workers.

Candidate R Raghu said “I am in close contact with Grama Panchayat members since years. I need their support and will promise to stand with them and fight for their rights to get due facilities”.

Though I was defeated by a margin of few votes in the previous election, BJP gave a second chance to support a true party worker. BJP catapulted ordinary person to decorate extraordinary positions by giving powers in a democratic set up. I assure to be a model to Grama Panchayats,” said Raghu.

District Minister S T Somashekar said “Yediyurappa recommended the name of only one person and it was R Raghu. We all support him. The party workers split in 15 teams have met different Grama Panchayats members. Likewise we have reached 380 Grama Panchayats and conveyed the programmes of BJP and its plans for the good of local bodies. BJP is not in pact with any party. Hence give first preferential votes to BJP candidate,” Somashekar said.

Mysuru- Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, MLAs L Nagendra, B Harshavardhan, N Mahesh, former MP C H Vijayshankar, Mayor Sunanda Palanethra, BJP State Vice-president M Rajendra, BJP district President Mangala Somashekar, City President T S Srivatsa and several others took part in the meeting.
