Engineering student raises loan for friend through apps; commits suicide over torture

Bengaluru: An engineering student who had raised a loan through loan apps to help his friend out died by suicide as he allegedly could not take harassment by loan apps on Tuesday at HMT Layout.
The deceased has been identified as Tejas, 22, a student of Nitte Meenakshi College.
Tejas, who was studying in 6th Semester in Mechanical Engineering was a topper. It is reported that Tejas had raised loan to help his friend Mahesh through some china-made loan apps. He had also raised a loan from Kotak Mahindra too. However, his friend Mahesh had not paid the EMI – as promised – since one year. As a result, Tejas had to bear the harassment of loan apps allegedly forcing him to take the extreme step. He has reportedly written a death note seeking apology from his parents.
The postmortem was conducted at MS Ramaiah Hospital and Tejas’ parents have lodged a complaint at Jalahalli police station.
