Empowering GP members, Mysuru-Chamarajanagar Local Bodies candidates voice common point
1 min readMysuru: In view of the elections to State Legislative Council on December 10, four prominent candidates of Mysuru- Chamarajanagar Local Bodies constituency stressed on empowering Grama Panchayat members.
Mysuru District Journalist Association had organized an interaction with the candidates on Friday.
R Raghu Kautilya from BJP, C N Manjegowda from JDS, Dr D Thimmaiah from Congress and Vatal Nagaraj the independent candidate faced a volley of questions from journalists.
The candidatesopined that Grama Panchayat members are in distress. They are being paid a honorarium of Rs 1,000 which should be hiked at least up to Rs 5,000.
Vatal Nagaraj demanded the vote at least to raise a strong voice in the Council. I am not spending money to win this election, and I am ready to vouch on these lines, he said.
D Thimmaiah Congress candidate heaped praise on Siddaramaiah led government as it did better to help poor and rural people.
JDS candidate C N Manjegowda, referring to the allegations of district minister S T Somashekar said “I have already complained to DC, state election commission and also the chief election commissioner.”
R Raghu said BJP government is giving more powers to GP members to ensure their dignified participation in the Governance. I was defeated in the previous election, but this time I need to win.
MDJA President S T Ravikumar General Secretary M Subramanya, vice-president M S Basavanna, City secretary R Rangaswamy were present.
