Elephant calf found dead in Bandipur: Tiger attack suspected

Gundlupet: A female elephant calf was killed by a wild animal at Bandipur Tiger Reserve Forest on Wednesday.

The elephant calf was aged three to four years and the carcass was found in Kundukere range, near Kotagere lake.

It is suspected to have been attacked by a tiger, but there is no official confirmation about the attack by big cat.

Bandipur forest officials including ACF of Gundlupet G Ravindra, Kundukere RFO D Srinivas and Veterinarian Dr Wasim Mirza rushed to the spot.

Autopsy was conducted and it was confirmed that the elephant calf was killed in a wild animal attack.

The elephant carcass has been kept at the same spot, without disposing it, according to Supreme Court guidelines.
