Mysuru: Chamarajanagar’s only engineering College-Ekalavya Institute of Technology faces uncertainty as VTU has cancelled affiliation to the Institute.

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belagavi has issued closure orders to six engineering colleges in the state including EIT.

The order states that “no admissions to these colleges for academic year of 2021-22 and also informed the general public not to opt for admission in these colleges.”

The other colleges are- Alpha College of Engineering, BTL Institute of Technology and Management in Bengaluru, Shaikh College of Engineering, Belagavi, Islamiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru and Sri Vinayaka Institute of Technology, KGF.

University officials stated that bad infrastructure, unfilled seats and poor quality of teaching were the reasons for the colleges to be shut.

They added that students who have already taken admissions to these colleges will be shifted to other colleges.

The decision was made in the recent meeting of VTU Executive Council.
