Mysuru: Eight cameras installed at Nagarahole Tiger Reserve Forest have been stolen. The cameras had been installed to camera trap the movement of animals in the wild.

According to forest sources, the cameras had been installed at buffer zones of tiger at Veeranahosahalli, Anechowkur and Hunsur ranges, where two each of cameras have been lifted.

Forest personnel who were sourcing data from cameras noticed the theft. The role of either poachers or timber mafia behind the theft cannot be ruled out, said forest personnel.

The respective range forest officers (RFO) have lodged a complaint at Hunsur rural and Ponnampet Police station in Kodagu.
