DyCM Shivakumar holds surprise meeting with Shettar and Savadi

Hubballi: Days after forming a cabinet with new ministers, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar’s sudden and secret meeting with Congress leaders Jagadish Shettar and Laxman Savadi has raised curiosity among their followers.
In Hubballi, Shivakumar accompanied by his colleagues Laxmi Hebbalkar, Satish Jarkiholi and MLA N H Konareddy called on Shettar at the latter’s residence at Keshwapur here on Wednesday.
It may be recalled here that Shettar’s followers had recently claimed that since Shettar joined Congress, the party was able to better its performance in North Karnataka. Now that the Congress has come to power, Shettar should be given a suitable position in the government. Meanwhile, Shettar, too recently had stated that he would wait for a suitable position in the Congress government. In this backdrop, deputy chief minister Shivakumar’s surprise visit has raised expectations among Shettar followers.
He also called on Laxman Savadi on Wednesday. Speaking to mediapersons in Belagavi, Shivakumar said that prominent leaders who joined Congress from other parties have strengthened the party. Irrespective of their win or lose, the Congress party will stand by them. He further said that there’s a time for everything in politics and we know what to do when. No one has demanded any position, yet the party knows what to do, he said. He further said that the party stands by Laxman Savadi, Jagadish Shettar, Vasu, Shivalingegowda, Baburao Chinchansur and Darshan Puttannaiah as they strengthened the party. None of them have any condition. They are not just party workers but they are the leaders.
Since he was busy after the election, he could not meet them. So, he took time now to meet them. “I wanted to discuss certain things and needed some advice. So, I have come to meet them,” he added.
