Mysuru: Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers D V Sadananda Gowda on Saturday launched BJP membership drive in the district.
It is a part of the national level drive with Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself launching the drive at Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
Gowda said ‘those engaged in the drive should convince the new members not merely on the basis of Modi being the prime minister, but on the basis of principles and ideology of the party’.
The party has in the recent years has grown to be one of the largest parties with 12 crore members. It is more than the communist party that is on its way out.
The membership drive was formally launched from Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple premises in Mysuru palace north gate.
The party in Mysuru aims to enrol two lakh new members.
Mysuru- Kodagu MP Prathap Simha, MLAs S A Ramdas and L Nagendra, city president Dr B Manjunath, former MLC Thontadarya, BJP State secretary M Rajendra, keader H V Rajiv, former mayor A S Satish ( Sandesh Swamy) were present.
