Due to lack of technological skills, effort and motivation Generation Z are struggling in their workplace

Mysuru: Leadership is the process of influencing individuals or groups to achieve the common goals said Sethuraman, the Strategic Adviser of SASMOS Group.
Delivering keynote address during 1st International Conference on Leadership organised by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) at its auditorium here on Friday he said “Generation Z (aged between 10-25years) expect lifelong training and development programs to update and advance their ever-changing skills. In India most Gen Z workers expect open, honest internal communication at their workplace while the millennial (aged 26-41 years ) want a safe and comfortable workplace. The study also found that a safe, comfortable workplace tops employee’s expectations by 59 percent while (baby boomers) those aged 58-67 years value visible, effective leaders by 61 percent”.
“The future of work will call for a return of the old figure; a person with many talents, interests and areas of knowledge. It will require a fusion of four key work skills; Digital tools and technology skills, comfort with analytics and data, business management skills and design and creative skills” added Sethuraman. He also shed light on the evolving dynamics of leadership in the modern era.

The event commenced with a comprehensive conference briefing by Dr. Mamta Hegde, the Conference Chair at SDMIMD. Dr. S N. Prasad, Director of SDMIMD, delivered an insightful inaugural address, setting the tone for the day’s discussions and deliberations.
The morning session was followed by a series of paper presentations showcasing the latest research and findings in the field of leadership. A special address was given by Chandramouli, a renowned Management Consultant from ANCM Management Consultants, Bangalore, offering a fresh perspective on leadership challenges and solutions.

The post-lunch session featured a unique presentation on “Mapping the Landscape of Leadership Values Research: A Bibliometric Approach” by M.V.Sunil, Assistant Professor at SDMIMD. The day concluded with an address by Dr. N R. Parasuraman, Director Emeritus, emphasized the importance of leadership in today’s volatile business environment.
