Dr R S Umakanth of UoM receives Best Research Award for short film on silk

Mysuru: Dr R S Umakanth, Associate Professor, DoS in Sericulture Science, University of Mysore, Mysuru has secured BEST RESEARCH AWARD for a short film “The Journey of Silk” at 25th All India Children’s Educational Audio Video Festival conducted by Central Institute of Educational Technology, NCERT, New Delhi during August.
The 15 minute short movie portrays the journey of silk from soil to silk fabrics covering all aspects of production like mulberry cultivation, silkworm rearing, silk reeling and weaving of fabrics in addition to other uses of silk.
The short film is directed by K Gopinath.
