Down but not weak! HDK to start JDS rebuilding exercise from Mysuru?

2 min read

Mysuru: When former chief minister H D kumaraswamy wanted to revive sagging fortune of his party ahead of Assembly elections in 2018, he had launched an unique initiative called- Kumaraparva from Mysuru.

After two years, all is not well in the party Janata Dal ( Secular) especially with one of the senior leaders and sitting Chamundeshwari MLA G T Devegowda sending feelers of rebellion many a times.

In this backdrop, Kumarasway has convened a meeting of the party workers on March 7 at H Kempegowda Kalyana Mantap at Manjunathapura, Yadavgiri in the city at 3 PM.

A poster on H D Kumaraswamy’s meeting with party workers being shared on social media.

A JD(S) leader who preferred to remain anonymous told Mysoorunews.com “the meeting is intended at giving a much needed push for the organisational activities by making some internal shuffling. After the previous Assembly
elections, not all is well in the party, especially with G T Devegowda singing a different tune. As the party has a strong base in old Mysuru region, mainly in Mysuru with four MLAs and three MLCs (including S Nagaraju alias Sandesh Nagaraj elected to Legislative Council from Mysuru- Chamarajanagar local bodies constituency who is albeit staying aloof from his one time leader HDK), Kumaraswamy is in no mood to give it up so easily.

More than that, a section of MLAs including former MLAs and other influential leaders across the state are singing a different tune, portending a severe threat to the party in the coming days.

The bigger jolt is the voice of discontent raised by JDS working president Madhu Bsngarappa, who is rumoured to be toying with the idea of joining Congress party, to revive his political career in Shivamogga. Madhu who  had won on JDS  ticket from Sorab in 2013, had to cede ground to his brother Kumar Bangarappa who contested on BJP ticket in 2018.

As the party supremo H D Deve Gowda has started the exercise in Bengaluru to give a much needed rejig, Kumarasway is starting from Mysuru.

To make the meeting a grand success, leaders irrespective of units are sharing forwarded messages on every social media network.

Former minister and MLA Sa Ra Mahesh, MLAs C S Ashwin Kumar and K Mahadev, city president and former Corporator K T Chaluvegowda, city women’s wing president Prema Shankaregowda and several other leaders will be attending the meeting.
