Mysuru is one of the top tourist destinations which was attracting millions of tourists every year. Similarly Goa the world acclaimed tourist destination was connected by air to improve tourism.
It also received good response earlier, with the people in the city finding it easier to travel.
Alliance Air was operating six flights a week from Mysuru to Goa. While in the previous year, the flight witnessed 80- 90 per cent occupancy. While in the ongoing year, the emergence of Covid19 and hike in ticket fares dropped the occupancy to 50 per cent.
Srinath the manager at Safe Wheels a ticket booking agency told Mysoorunews.com “the flight operators have increased the ticket fare. The fare to Goa and Belagavi is almost double than the previous fare. Earlier passengers on pilgrimage were mostly traveling to Belagavi and for tourism Goa was the itinerary. The slump that began with the Covid crises worsened further with hike in ticket fares”.
Mysuru Airport got a new lease of life especiallyafter Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagarik (Udan) scheme was introduced in the country. All went well, till the pandemic turned everything upside down.
