‘Double engine’ propels Karnataka towards progress: PM Modi

2 min read

Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday began his speech in Kannada saying- Karnatakada samasta janathege nanna koti koti namaskaragalu… (My crores of tributes to all the people of Karnataka).

“I am privileged to be here today as I took part in the Jayanti of Saint Kanakadasa and Onake Obavva. I pay tributes to them again”, said Modi after paying floral tributes to the historical personalities, at a public meet organised on the premises of Kempegowda International Airport Limited, Devanahalli in Bengaluru.

Karnataka is propelling on the strength of double engine, surpassing imagination, be it in governance or digital front. Unlike the period before 2014, the country is marching ahead. Though the governments existed earlier, their thinking was old. India today has been developing the infrastructure of the country, by addressing the loopholes in coordination and bringing all under one platform, said Modi.

Besides, Karnataka got first of its kind ‘Made in India’ Vande Bharat train that connects Bengaluru and Mysuru too, along with Bharat Gaurav Kashi Darshan train connecting Karnataka with religious places like Kashi, Ayodhya and Prayagraj of the country, followed by the inauguration of Terminal 2 at Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru.

“I had posted some of the photos of the terminal on social media. But the terminal looks more magnificent in reality”, described Modi.

“I also got an opportunity to unveil the statue of Kempegowda along with performing Jalabhishek”, said Modi.

Start Up is the identity of India and Bengaluru plays a pivotal role in this regard. It’s not just about starting one company, but thinking about something innovative and different.

The ongoing programme also reflects the spirit of  youth. The Vande Bharat train is the new identity of new India. It denotes that the country wants to run fast and is making all the efforts in this direction. More than 4000 new Vande Bharat Express with vistadome coaches will be the new aadditions in the coming years. New sectors will be brought in Railway map and stations are being modernised. If one goes to Visvesvaraya Terminal, they will feel a different experience. Yeshwanthpur railway station will also be developed, asserted Modi.

Air connectivity and airports will be expanded further in keeping with the relevant demand. It is the fastest growing market as there is a spurt in air travellers. Hence our government is building new airports, as it is evident with more than 140 airports built against 70 existing in the earlier years, said Modi.

We wish that Bengaluru be developed as dreamt by Kempegowda, who as a visionary laid out plans for overall development of Bengaluru, the benefits of which are still being availed by all, said Modi singing paeans of erstwhile founder of Bengaluru.
