District administration to ensure plastic-free Ashada month this year

Mysuru: The Mysuru district administration has vowed to make this ongoing Ashada month, a plastic-free celebration. Those littering the City and at the Chamundi Hills with plastics will be penalised with fines and there will be CCTV cameras to keep an eye on violators.

Addressing a joint press conference here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra and Police Commissioner Ramesh B said that for the convenience of devotees, private vehicles will not be allowed atop the Hills. Instead, City buses have been arranged from Lalith Mahal helipad to take devotees to the temple, for free.

Besides, to check the threat of food poisoning at prasada counters, a team of food safety officers will be deployed at these counters and those distributing prasada in large quantities are required to obtain a certificate from safety officers, he informed.
