Dhanyasi! A Musical Tribute to Violin Maestro S Mahadevappa on January 1

Mysuru: JSS Sangeetha Sabha, Mysuru, is organising a musical tribute to honour Guru and Rajya Sangeetha Vidwan violin maestro S Mahadevappa on January 1 at Navajyothi Auditorium, JSS Women’s College, Saraswathipuram, at 6 PM.

The highlight of the event titled ‘Dhanyasi’, is a violin concert by Mahadevappa’s equally talented sons Mysore M Nagaraj and Dr Mysore M Manjunath, popular as Mysore Brothers.

They will be accompanied by Anantha R Krishnan on the mridanga and Ojas Adhiya on the tabla.

About S Mahadevappa

S Mahadevappa, more known as Piteel Mahadevappa was a celebrated violinist, and a torchbearer of the Mysuru school of music.

Known for his soulful renditions and mastery over the instrument, he trained numerous disciples, leaving an indelible mark on Carnatic music.

A recipient of the prestigious Rajya Sangeetha Vidwan Award, he was deeply revered for his contributions to classical music.

As a guru, Mahadevappa nurtured many talented musicians, including his progenies-Mysore Brothers.

The disciples and family members of Mahadevappa will also be part of the event, adding a personal touch to this heartfelt homage.

The music enthusiasts and students of Carnatic music are hereby appealed to attend and celebrate the enduring legacy of Mahadevappa.Dhanyasi is a rāgam in Carnatic music (musical scale of South Indian classical music). It is a janya rāgam (derived scale) from the 8th melakarta scale Hanumatodi. It is a janya scale, as it does not have all the seven swaras (musical notes) in the ascending scale.
