Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council Dharmegowda ends life

Chikkamagaluru: In a gruesome incident Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council S L Dharmegowda has allegedly committed suicide. The body of Gowda was found on the railway track near Gunasagar in Kadur taluk in the district.
Gowda who had left home at Sakarayapatna on Monday night, had asked his driver to go home. Before ending his life, Gowda is believed to have called a close aide to enquire about the timings of Janashatabdhi train. As Gowda did not return home even after 10 pm, the family members launched a search for him, only to find him dead on the railway track at around 1.30 am on Tuesday. He is suspected to have jumped under the train.
The body has been shifted to Meggon Hospital in Shivamogga for postmortem.
The incident has shook the state politics with many suspecting that the recent ruckus in the council that put the upper house into a shame may have pushed Gowda into depression forcing him to take the extreme step.
