Mysuru: Former minister and senior Congress leader M B Patil on Sunday reminded the instructions of the high command over the debate on ‘next CM candidate’.
Patil who visited Suttur mutt at the foothills of Chamundi said “Congress party still believes in mass leadership. Congress Incharge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala has categorically instructed to keep quiet about the next CM candidate.”
All are aspirants, as everyone has a bit of desire to become the chief minister. But, our first goal is to restore Congress government by winning 150 seats. It is only after that the Congress legislature party meeting will decide about the CM candidate, in keeping with our party tradition, said Patil.
There is no differentiation in the name of old and migrated leaders in the party. Once anybody joins the party, they will be addressed as Congress men. We all should work towards strengthening the organisation, Patil added.
Patil also mentioned that “self certification won’t work. What works is the collective leadership in the upcoming election and it is our aim.”
On Covid crises in the state and efforts made by the governments to tackle the situation, Patil alleged that ” both State and central governments have failed in corona management. Vaccination drives are not conducted in a phased manner. The warnings related to third wave are serious in nature. At our BLDE hospital in Vijayapura also we have increased the capacity of beds from 60 to 120 at NICU wards to handle paediatric cases,” Patil added.
Former MLAs Vasu and Kalale Keshavamurthy, Congress rural committee President B J Vijay kumar were present.
