DC inspects health survey at villages; meets man who had witnessed evil of plague, cholera

Chamarajanagar: Deputy Commissioner Dr M R Ravi on Sunday visited Harave and Nanjadevanapura villages to take stock of the ongoing health survey.

Though no cases of Coronavirus are reported in the district, the district administration has been taking all the precautionary measures. One such measure is the health survey of households and so far 2.10 lakh households have been surveyed. If there are any complaints of cold, throat pain, phlegm and fever, such people are subjected to test.

The deputy commissioner who interacted with some of the villagers and advised them against roaming out without any valid reasons.

In case of any outsiders entering the villages including the relatives, it should be brought to the notice of ASHA workers.

The deputy commissioner also came across an elderly person who had been a witness to Plague and Cholera in its primitive days, when the people had vacated villages enmasse. He also recalled how people were experiencing diarrhoea during plague.

At the time of Cholera, people who vacated villages enmasse returned only after the situation returned to normal. A similar situation, he has been witnessing after a long time, the man told DC.

The man in his rickety age also thanked the deputy commissioner for taking measures that have saved several lives from the pandemic.
