Day of Lokayukta raids: Hescom engineer, Nirmiti Kendra project officer and KAS officer face inquiry

Mysuru: It was a day of Lokayukta raids as Lokayukta sleuths launched raids simultaneously in at least 10 districts on Wednesday.
Raids are underway in Chikkamagaluru, Kalaburagi and Ramanagara. In Chikkamagaluru, the properties of Gangadhar, project manager of Nirmiti Kendra, are being searched following complaints of allegedly amassing wealth disproportionate to his income.
In Yadgir, Lokayukta officials searched the properties of AEE Vishwanatha Reddy. Reddy’s swanky house in Green City in Yadgir was the centre of attention as the Lokayukta sleuths investigated the documents. The Lokayukta team included Lokayukta SP A R Kurnool, a DySP, two police sub-inspectors and other staff.
Incidentally, Reddy works in both Yadgir and Raichur districts.
In Bengaluru too, Lokayukta officials searched for KAS officer Ajith Kumar Rai, a tahsildar in KR Pura. The search was warranted after a series of complaints of amassing wealth disproportionate to his income. The Bengaluru Lokayukta officials have registered an FIR against Ajit Kumar Rai and are investigating.
It is reported that huge bundles of cash have been seized from Rai’s residence.
In Kalaburagi, Planning Department’s Assistant Director Sharanappa Madiwala’s farm house was raided by the Lokayukta officials.
The farmhouse is located on Naganahalli-Kanadala road in Kalaburagi. Besides, his office too was raided in Sindhanur in Raichur. Sharanappa is a native of Aland.
In Chikkaballapur too, the search was conducted at the residence of Excise Inspector V Ramesh. He has properties in Gauribidanur, Nagarbhavi and Yelahanka in Bengaluru and search is being conducted at these places.
A Hescom engineer was raided in Belagavi by Lokayukta officials. Hescom Engineer Shekhar Bahuroopi is being inquired by the officials for owning three residences. Officer Shekhar Bahuroopi is currently serving in Harapanahalli in Vijayanagar district. There were complaints of irregularities against him during the flood relief distribution to victims in 2019. Following this, he was suspended. However, he has recently joined the duty again.
