Davis Cupper Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha shifts base to Mysuru

Bengaluru: Davis Cupper Niki Kaliyanda Poonacha, who has in recent years represented Andhra Pradesh.and Tamil Nadu for long before that, has shifted base to Mysuru and will now don Karnataka colours moving forward.
The 29-year-old Kodava, who won India the fourth rubber in the Davis Cup playoffs against Pakistan earlier this year, and who was also part of the team that lost the World Group I tie to Sweden in September, expressed excitement to be returning to his home state.
“Having been a native of Karnataka, it’s like homecoming for me. I’m extremely happy to be part of Karnataka tennis and am excited to represent the state and bring laurels to the state and India,” said Poonacha.
“The KSLTA has been a great supporter of tennis in India and it gives me utmost pleasure to be a part of this progressive association and state. I look forward to playing for the state and being a part of Karnataka tennis’ success story,” added the right-hander.
Owner of five Challenger doubles titles, including three this season, and two singles titles, Poonacha will give Karnataka more firepower at the National Games that they have dominated in the last two editions. The tall Poonahca will kickstart his 2025 season next week at the Bangkok Open.
