Tumakuru: In an attempt to attract more investments and create huge jobs, the State government will fix the date for next edition of Global Investors Meet in 15 days.

Addressing media personnel after inspecting Food Park works at Vasanthanarasapura industrial area in Tumakuru district, Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani on Thursday said “the date for next Global Investors Meet will be fixed soon.”

“A meeting with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and chiefs of various industry bodies will be held soon and we will fix a date for the 2022 Global Investors Meet in 15 days. We plan to hold the investors meet in a grand manner to attract more investments and aim to create over 5 lakh jobs,” Nirani said.

Recalling the successful GIMs during 2011-2012, Minister Nirani said the priority is job creation. “We managed to create a lot of jobs after the successful conduct of Global Investors Meet in 2011-12. Thousands of people got employment opportunities. This time also ‘job creation’ will be our priority,” Nirani stated.

Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the food park initiative, Nirani lauded the officials for working hard.

“This food park is the result of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s dream. I applaud the officials for working hard to complete the project. This food park is spread over 105 acres of land and attracted over Rs 1,000 crore investments from national and international companies. This will help spur industrial growth,” minister expressed confidence.

Replying to a query over denial of jobs to locals, Nirani said the government is committed to ensure jobs for locals.

“As per Dr Sarojini Mahishi report, 80% of jobs must go to locals. I will hold talks with officials if there is any violation. Our government is committed to the policy of providing jobs to locals,” Nirani clarified.

Special Deputy Commissioner Dr Shivaram Bhandari, KIADB CEO N Shivashankar, Chief Development Officer B K Pavithra, senior officer Thapsama Zahera and others were present during Nirani’s inspection.
