Dasara illumination! Mysuru getting ready to shine like gilded crown

Mysuru: Every Dasara, the City of Palaces soaks in a festive spirit. And, shines like a gilded armour with melange of attractions, topped with illuminated sight.
Illumination that was earlier synonymous with Palace on Sundays, attracting tourists and visitors alike in droves, was later extended to the central business district, during Dasara. Since, it is one of the key attractions during annual event.

With varieties of lights, prominent streets and circles decorated, it make for a balustrades of electric lamps- vertically and horizontally.
Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) is tasked with the job, busy lighting up the city, for 10 days till curtains fall on the festival with Jamboo Savari the last leg of Navaratri.

This time a stretch of 100 kilometres covering nearly 50 plus circles will be adorned with colourful lighting arrangements. As a prelude, CESC is busy with trials to make it foolproof to make it a sight to behold.
Neeraj Chopra the ace athlete who secured Gold medal in Javelin throw for India in recent Tokyo Olympics has also found a space in illumination. A design in colourful bulbs willl be dedicated to Neeraj Chopra. It will be erected at Doddakere Maidan, opposite Jayamarthanda gate of the palace. The design is expected to be finalised today.
As many as 23 designs including those of erstwhile Maharaja of Nysuru Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, his son and previous titular ruler Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar and particularly 75th year of independent India celebrated as Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, Parliament, freedom fighters and national integrity will be prepared to attract the tourists.

On Raja Marga (Palace to Bannimantap) only old Tungsten bulbs are used and linked to Green Mantapa. (Hasiru Mantapa) on Sayyaji Rao Road near the intersection of Dhanwantri road, is a regular feature every Navaratri.
“Welcome and Suswagata” the prominent attractions in words and lights again at Chamundi Hills, that is visible from every nook and and corner of Mysuru is also prepared to greet tourists for 411th Dasara celebrations.
Hasiru Mantapa will be switched “ON”, on October 7 marking the inauguration of Dasara illumination. Everyday from 7 PM to 9-30 PM, one can catch a glimpse of illuminated city, till October 15.
