Dasara 2023: Traditional Puja offered to Mysore Palace canons

Mysuru: A traditional puja was offered to 11 canons of Mysore Palace in front of Aane Bagilu (Elephant Gate) entrance of Mysore Palace on Tuesday. These 11 canons are used to give 21 round canon salute before the commencement of Jumboo Savari on Vijayadashami Day which will be held on October 24.
Priest SV Prahallad Rao performed Ganapathi pujas and other rituals.
As is the tradition, on Vijayadashami procession day, the golden howdah will be mounted on howdah elephant Abhimanyu and the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari will be placed inside the golden howdah. During the showering of flowers to the idol and the Golden Howdah, the Police Band will play the National Anthem in three phases and 21 rounds of cannon salute will be done using seven cannons.
The same cannons will be used to fire during the torchlight parade by expert staff from the City Armed Reserve (CAR) team.
City Police Commissioner Ramesh Banoth, DCP Mutthuraj and Jahnavi, DCF Sourabh Kumar was present.
