Dasara 2021 will be simple and traditional like previous year: CM Basavaraj Bommai

Bengaluru: Like previous year, it will be simple and traditional Dasara this year too, due to prevailing Covid crises.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai who chaired Dasara Highpower Committee meeting at the banquet hall of Vidhana Soudha on Friday.

Navaratri festivities will begin with the inauguration on October 7 at Chamundi Hill and culminate with Jamboo Savari on October 15. However, there is no decision yet on who will inaugurate the festivities.

The chief minister also clarified that ” like previous year, Jamboo Savari will be restricted to Palace precincts. While Rs six crore will be released for festival expenditures, the pending amount towards total Rs eight crore announced for the festival last year has been released today.”

Like previous years, measures will be taken to celebrate Chamarajanagar and Srirangapatna Dasara along with Mysuru Dasara, CM said.

With regard to illumination of Mysuru city, Mysuru district incharge minister S T Somashekar said ” the new energy minister who also holds Kannada and Culture portfolio will take a call on both illumination and cultural programmes at Palace premises. Only Kannadiga artistes I’ll be preferred.”

Urban Development minister B Basavaraj, Kannada and Culture Minister Karkala Sunil Kumar and Tourism Minister B Anand Singh, Mayor Sunanda Phalanethra, MLAs, MP Pratap Simha, Mandya MP Sumalatha and others were present.
