Dasara 2019: Forest men on jumbo check

Chamarajanagar: The annual Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara festival is nearing and forest personnel are evaluating the health of the elephants to be taken for the festival.

Jamboo Savari the last leg of Dasara is on October 8 and caparisoned elephants are the piece-de-resistance of the annual festival.

Forest officials on Thursday visited the elephant camp at K Gudi in BRT in Yalandur taluk and monitored the fitness of elephants Gajendra and Durga Parameshwari.

The officials including DCF Alexander and veterinarian Nagaraj looked into the condition of the pachyderms.

It is important to examine their health, especially of pregnant and lactating elephants.

RFO Abhilash told Mysooru News ‘there are chances of Durga Parameshwari being selected for Dasara squad. According to the procedure the elephants selected will be trained for a period of 50 to 60 days to take part in Jamboo Savari’.
