Darshan Puttannaiah’s garland was made of plastic peacock feathers, claims Badagalapura Nagendra

Mandya: Following a notice issued by the Forest department officials to Karnataka Sarvodaya Party candidate Darshan Puttannaiah for wearing a garland made of peacock feathers, Raitha Sangha president Badagalapura Nagendra clarified that the garland was made of plastic that resembled peacock feathers.

It may be recalled here that during the ‘Jana Mana Darshana, Idhu Bharavaseya Yana’ campaign launched by Darshan Puttannaiah in Pandavapura on Sunday, a few of his supporters presented him with a huge garland made of peacock feathers. As the pictures of Darshan wearing the garland and campaigning in villages went viral, the wildlife activists filed a complaint against Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha leader. The forest officials served him a notice too.

But farmers’ leader Nagendra stated that there is a political conspiracy behind the forest officials serving Darshan Puttannaiah a notice. “Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy too have been honoured with similar garlands. There was no action taken then. It is nothing but a political conspiracy to single out Darshan Puttanaiah,” he alleged. He also claimed that garlands made of plastic peacock feathers are being sold everywhere.
