Mysuru: “Come what may, we will go ahead with our Mahisha Dasara plans on October 15 at Chamundi Hill in the city”, is the stand of Dalit Welfare Trust.

Trust president and journalist Shantaraju on Tuesday told media persons ” We have been relentlessly seeking answers for our queries regarding denial of permission for Mahisha Dasara. But, there are no answers yet. Though we volunteered for a debate over the issue, nobody is daring to come forth”.

Dalith Welfare Trust is not feared to celebrate Mahisha Dasara. As planned earlier, the seventh year event will go on, on October 15 atop Chamundi Hill, said Shantaraju.

Rationalist K S Bhagawan alleged that “five per cent of the people from upper castes are dominating 95 per cent of downtrodden castes. We have documental evidence in favour of Mahisha as Mahadeva. We are ready for discussion in front of Town Hall. We again extend an open invitation to Mysuru- Kodagu MP Pratap Simha for a debate. Are you ready?, Bhagawan questioned Simha.
Former mayor R Purushottam said “we are celebrating a historical person, not a mythological person. If you have guts, come for the debate. Or else don’t hurt our sentiments”, said Purushottam referring to Simha.
We have been requesting chief minister, district minister and deputy commissioner for permission to celebrate Mahisha Dasara, but in vain.
Retired professor Maheshchandra Guru claimed that “Mahisha is not a demon, as he belongs to a gentle tribe. We are organising Mahisha Dasara to continue to cherish the legacy of Buddha”.
