Dalit literature, movement got force with Siddalingaiah’s literary works: Rangayana director Cariyappa

Mysuru: Rangayana Director Addanda C Cariyappa has condoled the death of writer Siddalingaiah who passed away on Friday.

In a press release, Cariyappa has stated that ” Siddalingaiah was a good hearted and simple man. As a dalit poet, Siddalingaiah with his literary works brought to fore the pains of oppressed classes. With this, dalit literature and movement got a much needed force. As a poet, teacher, member of Legislative Council and chairmen of authorities, his contribution to the land and language is immense.”

As a convener of Kendra Sahitya Akademi under the chairmanship of Dr Chandrashekar Kambar, Siddalingaiah was involved in the service of Kannada literature with enthusiasm. He was mainly responsible for the translation of various literary works from Kannada to various languages.

Similarly, Siddalingaiah was responsible for the literary works in Kodava language to be translated into other Indian languages.

Like an elder brother, friend and teacher, Siddalingaiah was there always.

As a friend of all in both literary and cultural world, Siddalingaiah had earned the love and respect in equal measure in the heart of many.

His passing away has brought immense pain and Rangayana prays for the peace of departed soul, the release added.
