D Gukesh becomes youngest ever World Chess Champion

1 min read

New Delhi: In a historic moment for Indian chess, 18-year-old D Gukesh claimed the World Chess Championship title on Thursday in Singapore.

Gukesh defeated China’s reigning champion, Ding Liren, to secure his place in the record books as the youngest-ever world chess champion.

The Indian prodigy sealed his victory in the 14th and final game of the classical time format, finishing with a narrow 7.5-6.5 scoreline.

Gukesh is only the second Indian to achieve this prestigious title, following in the footsteps of the legendary Viswanathan Anand, who paved the way for Indian dominance in the global chess arena.
