Mysuru: D Devaraja Urs Backward Class Development Corporation Chairman Raghu Kautilya on Friday described late former chief minister D Devaraja Urs as an elixir of backward classes.

Participating in the 106th birth anniversary of Devaraja Urs organised by BJP backward classes Morcha at the city party office, Raghu said “Urs was one of the finest politicians ever seen by the State. A native of Mysuru district, Urs became a messiah of backward classes with his concept of “Uluvavanige Bhoomi” (One who tills, owns the land). However, Congress party ignored such a great leader.”
Similar to Sowbhagya Jyoti programme intended at the welfare of poor that was introduced by Urs, it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi who implemented the programme in the country. It is BJP again that has imbibed the principles and ideology laid down by Urs, said Raghu.
Urs played a key role by treading on the path laid down by Ambedkar’s Constitution and envisioning the dream of 12th century social reformer Basavanna.
BJP city unit President T S Srivatsa claimed that the party is always in favour of backward classes. It is evident with the 27 ministers who were recently inducted into Modi’s cabinet representing backward classes, dalits and STs.
BJP Backward Classes Morcha President Jogi Manju, Corporator K J Ramesh, general secretaries Gopal, Maniratnam and Shivaraj, social media convener Abhilash, Khandesh, Mahadev, Harish, Ankit, Yogananda, Jeevan, Ramesh, Shobha, ST Morcha President Lakshman, Krishna Nayak and Shivu were present.
