Cyclonic storm Biparjoy 180 km away from Gujarat coast; to make severe landfall around 4 pm today

Gandhinagar: As cyclone Biparjoy is expected to make its severe landfall in Gujarat coast Thursday evening, the authorities have shifted about 74,000 people including sick and pregnant women living in vulnerable areas.

It is reported that the cyclone is less than 180 km from the Gujarat coast and it is expected to make landfall as severe cyclonic storm near Jakhau port with windspeed reaching up to 150 km per hour between 4 pm and 8 pm and us expected to continue through the night.

Mandvi in Kachch witnessed heavy rain and officials reported rough sea condition. Several places including Dwarka are witnessing intense heavy rainfall due to the cyclone.
Due to the cyclone, high tidal waves were witnessed in Mumbai’s Juhu Beach. As a result, lifeguards have been deployed at the beach and people have been banned from visiting the beach.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is continuously monitoring the situation by holding emergency meetings to ensure no casualties.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Sindh province is preparing for the worst as cyclonic storm Biparjoy is set to make landfall in both Pakistan and India.
