Cyclone Mandous! Parts of Mysuru feel the chill

Chennai: Cyclone Mandous is expected to intensify after a landfall in Tamil Nadu by midnight, with red alert sounded in three districts in TN as a precautionary measure.
Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry received heavy rain due to cyclonic affect, while there is a fall in minimum temperature in the interior parts of Karnataka particularly the borders of Mysuru district.

Cyclonic storm Mandous has intensified over the Bay of Bengal. It is predicted to weaken gradually before crossing the coast near Chennai in the midnight. While in Puducherry holiday has been declared for all the schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal regions on Friday and Saturday after the Indian Meterological Department (IMD) issued the warnings.
Cyclone mandous is a category one cyclone, with a wind speed of highest 70 to 90 kmph.
The cyclone is expected to landfall in the midnight at Mahabalipuram.
The cyclonic storm ‘Mandous’ is named by United Arab Emirates. Mandous means ‘treasure box’.
